Highland Red-belly Swallowtail - Atrophaneura horishana 
This amazing butterfly, also commonly known as Aurora Swallowtail, belongs to the species Atrophaneura horishana (Papilionidae), a large-sized swallowtail with 12-18 cm of wingspan. It is endemic to Taiwan where it is protected.
This species is still fairly common in some areas, but may be threatened by commercial collecting and also by rapid destruction of habitats by overuse of herbicides and road construction in highland of Taiwan.
